The Sam Kader Memorial Fund

In recent years, there has been a devastating resurgence of highly virulent and highly contagious Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). Healthy young people struck without warning, have rapidly succumbed to overwhelming staphylococcal sepsis that defied all manner of treatment. Despite this increase in the frequency of such tragic illnesses emerging from school sports facilities, professional sports, and hospitals all around the world, the pharmaceutical industry has shown little interest in the conquest of this frightening organism often claiming the cause of death by MRSA as a natural cause.

The pharmaceutical industry, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has inadequately addressed the epidemic. While advocacy groups have formed to respond to the MRSA epidemic, there remains an urgent need for research programs dedicated to therapeutic initiatives. This is why the family of Sam Kader, a tragic CA-MRSA victim, launched The Sam Kader Memorial Fund to defeat MRSA through research and advocacy. The Fund is spearheaded by the Kader family to finance research on the prevention and cure of MRSA and CA-MRSA infections and promote public education by sponsoring scientific meetings, symposia and workshops. Despite abundant evidence of an urgent need to address this silent killer, there has never been a philanthropic organization with this as its goal and we are the first and only UN-accredited organization battling this invisible killer.

International Development

The foundation works in collaboration with the World Health Organization, research institutions, world-renowned hospitals, universities, and other health organizations in pursuit of finding a remedy and eliminating this infectious threat to healthy young individuals and the vulnerable alike. Building an infrastructure of member states and relevant stakeholders would better prepare the international community to more effectively handle future outbreaks of infectious diseases and more efficiently implement a pre-established protocol for unanticipated future global medical crises.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The foundation complements efforts by the UN and the international community in fulfilling their commitments to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

SDG #3 – Good Health & Well-Being

We operate directly in line with Sustainable Development Goal #3 as we are committed to promoting public health through supporting the development of research to fight MRSA.

SDG #17 – Partnership for the Goals

MRSA has no borders. Thus, our collaboration must extend far past our national borders while also enlisting the essential help of public health NGOs and the scientific community as highlighted by Sustainable Goal #17.
